The world’s first fully robot-serviced hotel is slated for construction on the West Artificial Island of the Shenzhong (Shenzhen-Zhongshan) Link, a landmark infrastructure project connecting Shenzhen’s Bao’an District and Zhongshan City.

A strategic partnership ceremony was held on the island May 31 between Shenzhen Culture & Tourism Industry Development Co. (SZCT) and Shenzhen-based Pudu Robotics.

The two firms will collaborate to develop a smart hotel featuring comprehensive, end-to-end robotic solutions — spanning everything from guest reception and room service to maintenance and security.

The ceremony provided a vivid preview of this futuristic concept. Greeting robots guided guests into the venue, delivery robots distributed supplies and refreshments, and interactive robotic dogs engaged with attendees in photo opportunities.

The planned smart hotel will feature 44 high-end guest rooms alongside premium amenities, including a restaurant and a fitness center. Robots will be integrated into all hotel operations, including guest reception, luggage assistance, room service, food delivery, housekeeping, security patrols, and interactive companionship.

Guo Cong, co-founder and CTO of Pudu Robotics, a global leader in commercial service robotics, said the project will use a unified technical framework and a dedicated robotic fleet to ensure a service experience free from human intervention. These robots are designed to help the hotel minimize operational costs, maximize efficiency, and maintain a high standard of service quality.

Guo said the project will be implemented in phases, with the hotel scheduled to open to the public in early 2027.The vision is to eventually expand these services into a fully integrated smart service chain across the entire island.

Xiao Han, director of the Smart Tourism Department of SZCT, said the goal is to transform the island’s engineering and traffic value into cultural and tourism assets, turning the site from a mere transportation hub into an immersive experience destination for visitors.
